The following are just some things that occasionally happen at weddings so I thought I would share them since most of them happened at some point this year and they are fresh on my mind.
Do not steam your dress the morning of your wedding…
The fabric can “relax” and your dress will be a few inches longer making it difficult to walk in. And dancing in it will be even more of an adventure!
Walking in your dress…
Walking in a wedding dress is a little different than in the store. I recommend really moving around in the store. I know it’s lots of fun to check yourself out in the giant mirror and yes you will look good in it! However, make sure you enjoy your day and know what you are going to have to deal with. Princess dresses are stunning in pics but they can weigh up to 25lbs and that is a lot of dress to carry around for 10 hours. For most dresses, a “kick-step” will do the trick. Give a little foward kick before you step and you won’t get caught up in the dress. Again, have a little practice session in the store while you have it on. Make sure you are comfortable enough to walk around all day in it.
“Oh, That’s what that loop is for…”
Most dresses have a loop sewn in so you can hold the dress up while walking. Use it, it helps!
Can’t hustle with no bustle…
Bustles break, it just happens. It usually happens right before first dance
Some photographers will have safety pins in their bags…ALL coordinators will have them as well. However sometimes they don’t so it’s not a bad idea to have one on hand.
Be careful about losing a extra few pounds the last week…
In your race to lose weight for your wedding watch the final stretch or your dress won’t fit! You don’t want to spend the day wrestling the dress and trying to keep the “girls” in line. I see it a lot! Lose the weight you want to lose before the last fitting and then maintain. **Also, drink water! Water weight is a myth, water will keep your body clean, your skin glowing and give you more energy on your wedding day. Skip the “white foods” that’s what really causes “bloating” not water.
